The purposes of this article are to quantify the relationship between epiphytic lichen distribution and macroclimatic variables in the study area and to provide a case study for evaluating the predictive role of epiphytic lichens as bioclimatic indicators. The study was carried out in the Liguria region (NW-Italy), a small (5432 km2) borderline area, where phytoclimatic features range from the dry Mediterranean to the Alpine in a few kilometers. Epiphytic lichen diversity was sampled using a standardized protocol [Asta et al (2002) In: Nimis et al (eds) Monitoring with lichens: monitoring lichens. Kluwer, Dordrecht]. Abundance of the species in the sampling sites was related to macroclimatic parameters (yearly average temperature and rainfall) and non-parametric multivariate models were calculated to find significative relationships among predictive and response variables. A total of 59 species showed highly significant relation with macroclimatic parameters. Four groups were selected, by means of a cluster analysis, related to four climatic niches (warm-humid, cold-humid, mesothermic-humid, warm-dry). Distributional pattern of the groups in the survey area showed a good correspondence with the bioclimatic units of Liguria region described by Nimis [(2003) Checklist of the Lichens of Italy 3.0. Coexistence of trees and grasses in savannas should be possible if competition between the woody and the grassy components is less intense than the competition within each component. Although several studies have investigated competition between trees and grasses, little is known about tree–tree interactions. We used a multi-proxy approach to examine the spatial pattern of Acacia mellifera and other savanna woody species in a semi-arid savanna in South Africa. Spatial analysis of the point patterns of young and reproductively mature shrubs detected decreasing aggregation with size/age over all spatial scales. This indicated the prevalence of competition although the overall spatial shrub pattern was aggregated. In contrast to point pattern statistics that detect changes only when competition has led to the death of the inferior competitor, we also applied methods identifying the competitive effect on sizes of individual trees. Competition should lead to a negative spatial autocorrelation in size, which we observed in half of the studied cases. Quantile regressions show that nearest-neighbour distance increased steeply with combined size of the target shrub and its neighbours indicating strong competitive effects. The medians of the distributions of maximum root lengths of A. mellifera, of the scale of regular patterns, and of negative autocorrelations were not significantly different, suggesting that overlapping root systems mediate competitive interactions. A competitor removal experiment did not lead to increased shrub sizes, which may be due to the limited duration of the experiment. From the nearest neighbour and autocorrelation analyses, we conclude that competition had a strong impact on growth rates of savanna woody species. Competition-induced mortality only becomes obvious when analysing the shift towards less aggregated spatial patterns when shrubs become reproductively mature. As the overall clustered spatial pattern masks the perceptible effect of competition, a time component should always be included in spatial pattern-based inference of competition.  相似文献

Soil cover, which is one of the most informative and integrative landscape factors, can be used for the analysis of landscape patterns. We studied the spatial autocorrelation (Moran's I) of raster format soil maps (1:10,000; 10 m pixel size) in 35 study areas representing all landscape regions in Estonia. The carbonate concentration of soils, volumetric soil moisture (%) and the depth of the groundwater table were taken into consideration in compiling a scale of contrast of 17 soil groups. We introduce a simple characteristic based on spatial correlograms: a half-value distance lag, hI = 0.5—a distance where Moran's I drops below 0.5. Spatial autocorrelation decreased very rapidly in the case of heights with a very heterogeneous landscape composition, showing low values of hI = 0.5 (<100 m in all 6 study areas). In uplands and depressions, the spatial autocorrelation also decreased relatively rapidly (hI = 0.5 < 200 m). In most of the plains, coastal lowlands, sea islands and inland paludified lowlands, the values of Moran's I did decrease slowly with increasing lag, being >200 m in all forest and bog areas with complex topographical conditions due to the variety of glacial landforms and peatlands. All of the eight FRAGSTATS landscape metrics studied demonstrated significant correlations with hI = 0.5, whereas five of them – Contrast Weighted Edge Density (CWED); Percentage of Like Adjacencies (PLADJ), Edge Density (ED), Patch Density (PD) and Mean Patch Area Distribution (AREA_MN) – had Spearman Rank Order Correlation values higher than 0.8. Landscapes with high ED, PD, and CWED values have a low autocorrelation: PD, ED, and CWED correlated negatively with hI = 0.5. PD, ED, and CWED decreased and PLADJ increased with the power-law relationship with increasing hI = 0.5. Spatial autocorrelation is lower in landscapes with complex structure and high contrast. The positive relationship with PLADJ indicates the same. Thus, spatial correlograms of potential landscape structure based on soil cover analysis can be used for the characterization of human-influenced landscape (land use) structure.  相似文献

The stability and recovery of recombinant proteins expressed in plants are improved by fusion to elastin-like peptides (ELPs). In order to test the suitability of ELP for the production of pharmaceutical proteins, transgenic plants were created that individually expressed the light and heavy chains of the broadly neutralizing anti-human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (anti-HIV-1) monoclonal antibody 2F5, which is being evaluated as a microbicide component. The antibody chains were expressed both with and without a C-terminal ELP fusion. Crossing these plants in all combinations resulted in transgenic lines producing the full antibody in four formats, with ELP on either the light or heavy chains, on both or on neither. Characterization of the affinity-purified antibodies by surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy showed that the kinetic binding parameters were identical to those of a Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell counterpart lacking ELP. N -Glycan analysis showed that all four derivatives contained predominantly oligo-mannose-type N -glycans and that the ELP fusions had no significant effect on N -glycan structure. It was concluded that ELP fusion to the light chain, heavy chain or both chains of a plant-derived antibody had no adverse affects on protein quality, but had a positive impact on the yield. ELP fusions do not interfere with folding, assembly, trafficking in the secretory pathway or post-translational modification, but enhance stability whilst at the same time simplifying recovery.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Many states have implemented birth defects surveillance systems to monitor and disseminate information regarding birth defects. However, many of these states rely on tabular methods to disseminate statistical birth defects summaries. An innovative presentation technique for birth defect data that portrays the information in a joint geographical and statistical context is the linked micromap (LM) plot. METHODS: LM plots were generated for oral cleft data at two geographical resolutions—USA states and counties of Utah. The LM plots also included demographic and behavioral risk data. RESULTS: A LM plot for the USA reveals spatial patterns indicating higher oral cleft occurrence in the southwest and the midwest and lower occurrence in the east. The LM plot also indicates relationships between oral cleft occurrence and maternal smoking rates and the proportion of American Indians and Alaskan Natives. In particular, the five states with the highest oral cleft occurrence had a higher proportion of American Indians and Alaskan Natives. Among the 15 states with the highest oral cleft occurrence, nine had a smoking rate of 16% or higher while among the 15 states with the lowest oral cleft occurrence only one state had a smoking rate greater than 16%. The LM plot for the state of Utah shows no clear geographic pattern, due perhaps to a relatively small number of cases in a limited geographic area. CONCLUSIONS: LM plots are effective in representing complex and large volume birth defects data. Integration to birth defects surveillance systems will improve both presentation and interpretation. 长苞冷杉(Abies georgei)是青藏高原特有林线树种。对白马雪山阴坡海拔4 400 m以上林线0.8 hm2样地长苞冷杉种群进行每木调查,分析其种群结构、数量特征及空间分布格局。结果表明:(1)结构呈典型金字塔型,幼苗和幼树在种群中所占比重大,表现为增长型种群,种群个体数随径级的增加而减少,密度为幼苗>幼树>成年树;(2)存活曲线接近Deevy-III型,高径级种群趋于稳定,种群具两个死亡高峰,低径级种群尤其幼苗死亡率高达90%,这是林线区的气候条件如低温、强光照、积雪及冬季冻害等综合作用的结果,种群另一死亡高峰出现于V~VI龄级,种内和种间对空间、光照和养分等生存因子的激烈竞争引起自疏,导致死亡率再度上升;(3)长苞冷杉种群各龄级空间点格局在不同尺度上表现为聚集、随机和均匀分布,以聚集分布为主,由于幼苗来源于种子库且依赖成年树的微生境,幼苗聚集强度和尺度都最大;各龄级关系密切,在不同尺度上表现出显著的相关性。  相似文献

凉山山系小熊猫(Ailurus fulgens)分布区景观格局   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
根据2000~2001年对凉山山系主山脊7个县小熊猫野外分布调查数据,利用“3S”技术对凉山山系小熊猫分布区进行了确定,估算出分布区面积为219055hm^2,占山系研究区域面积17.8%。利用景观空间格局定量化分析软件FRAGSTATS,分析了小熊猫分布区景观格局的组成、各类型斑块特征、不同类型斑块间空间分布关系。结果表明,栖息地景观边缘褶皱程度低,趋于平整,景观丰富度大;森林斑块间的结构连通性较好,各类型斑块聚集度较高。小熊猫生境内部破碎化程度较低,森林结构连接程度高,有适宜生境面积为160249.5hm^2,占分布区面积的73.15%,生境中存在3个脆弱区域,特别是美姑-峨边公路通过的椅子垭口区域需要引起极大的关注。  相似文献

目前项目角度的土地整理生态效应评价较少,受到研究幅度的制约,而且已有研究中对景观格局优化目标和生态效应的系统分析较少.选择典型的土地整理项目作为研究案例,以GIS和景观指数为研究手段,结合景观格局优化目标建立相应的指标体系,对土地整理的生态效应进行评价.研究表明,土地整理项目的生态效应指标体系包括提升生物多样性、维持物质和能量流通、维持景观格局稳定、提升生活环境品质、提高生态服务价值等5个方面.研究区土地整理具有正效应和负效应,最大斑块面积提高、斑块密度减少、聚集度提高、廊道宽度和连通度提高、缓冲区宽度增加、植被覆盖增加、合理功能分区是土地整理的正效应,而景观多样性降低、分维数减少和生态服务价值降低是其负效应.因此,在土地整理规划和设计时应融入景观设计和生态保育思想.  相似文献

运用空间格局、生态位及多样性分析,探讨了重庆缙云山自然保护区林缘旷地(OAFE)、竹林(BF)及常绿阔叶林(EBF)3类生境蝴蝶花(Iris japonica Thumb.)自然种群分株格局特征及对草本多样性的影响机制.结果表明:方差均值比(V/m)和Moristia指数(Iδ)的格局判别分析表明,3类生境中蝴蝶花分株种群从0.5 m×0.5 m至2 m×2 m尺度均为聚集分布;从林缘旷地-竹林-常绿阔叶林,种群分株密度逐渐降低,总体格局规模与格局强度(PI)在各尺度均呈下降趋势.林缘旷地与竹林生境中,蝴蝶花的分布,降低了原优势种的优势度,并显著降低草本层物种多样性(p<0.05),但在常绿阔叶林生境中对原优势种的优势度及草本物种多样性的影响很小.不同生境中蝴蝶花种群格局对草本多样性的影响机制各不相同:林缘旷地生境,通过强的更新生态位(地上空间与根生态位)与营养生态位(获取水分与养分资源)竞争,降低草本物种丰富度尤其是偶见种丰富度;竹林生境,通过更新生态位(根生态位)与营养生态位(获取光与养分资源)竞争,降低了草本偶见种丰富度;常绿阔叶林生境,物种间生态位重叠较低,表现一定的资源竞争,但对草本多样性影响很小.林冠决定蝴蝶花分株种群格局强度、克隆生长的强弱及林下土壤状况,从而影响蝴蝶花与草本层其它物种之间生态位竞争的强弱是决定蝴蝶花种群对草本层物种多样性影响机制的重要因素.  相似文献

利用一种以随机模拟技术为基础的空间点格局分析方法--随机区块法对长白山阔叶红松林中5个主要树种的空间格局及空间关系进行了分析.随机区块法利用ICS(t)=s2(t)/x(t)-1来衡量不同尺度t上空间点的分布格局,并通过随机模拟技术构建零假设的95%或99%置信区间,以确定空间点格局偏离零假设的显著性程度.结果表明,除蒙古栎、山荆子、怀槐为随机分布外,其它树种均在局部空间尺度上呈聚集分布;并且绝大多数种对或种组在局部空间尺度上呈正相关关系.随机区块法克服了小样方统计法研究尺度单一的问题,也避免了以空间点距离为基础的点格局分析过程中边缘效应带来的影响和误差,尤其是在多变量点格局分析中具有明显的优势.  相似文献
